Pokemon HGSS Unleashed Set Preview

So hopefully you’ve all had a chance to rip open some of the new Pokemon HGSS:Unleashed packs and see all the new cool Pokemon in this set. If you haven’t, make sure you come up to Meta Games and check it out.  Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll find.

Shaymin

This legendary Pokemon is well known in its cute hedgehog like form, but what we see on this card doesn’t look anything like Sonic. That’s because when you give it the Gracidea flower, it bestows magical powers on Shaymin and changes Shaymin’s form. What powers you ask? How about the power of flight! (And telekinesis Kyle.) While this Pokemon might not have the power to move you, it certainly has the power to move your energies around. When you play Shaymin from your hand you have the option to use its Celebration Wind Poke-Power. This power lets you move any of your energies attached to your Pokemon to any of your Pokemon that you want!

Poliwrath

This Pokemon is clearly trying to be a Psyduck. Why else would it be so confused? Take a look at its flavor text, “Although an energetic, skilled swimmer that uses all of its muscles, it lives on dry land.” Obviously this Pokemon should be living in the water. Maybe its home is infested by an angry Red Gyarados, or a school of Carvanha, but Poliwrath’s Dynamic Punch should leave the opponent confused, not Poliwrath. Poliwrath, you’re doing it wrong.

Golbat

Wow, what big teeth you have, Golbat! Say what you will, but I’d definitely rather be with Edward and Golbat, rather than Jacob and Mightyena. Even just to avoid that Mean Look I’d get from Golbat. I would take 20 damage and not be able to retreat! Luckily, if you ever find yourself against a Golbat, you can let it suck on your friend for a while and then it will be too clumsy to fly after you and you can make a quick retreat. Just don’t let it look at you!

Larvitar

This rock skinned Pokemon is as tough as its flesh. It can eat entire mountains if you let it! But that may be just the key to its weak point. You see, when Larvitar finishes eating a mountain it quickly falls asleep. This gives us the perfect opportunity to strike when it’s not looking!

Alph Lithograph

This mysterious card comes in very few packs, and even fewer trainers can actually read what it says. See if you can decode the cryptic Unown spellings.

Make sure you get your hands on this new set for the upcoming Battle Road tournaments as well as the all-important Pokemon National Championships!
